Small Group Questions, Week 12, Fall 2024

Week 12 (Nov 24 – Nov 30) – Baptism

Opening Question / Icebreaker:

  • In addition to your baptism by immersion, what are some other spiritually significant events from your life?

Pray Together

Read Romans 6:1-14. https://www.esv.org/Romans+6/

Observation & Interpretation Questions:

  • Paul mentions death 15 times in this passage.  How does Christ’s death and resurrection tie into our relationship with sin?
  • What would it look like to live out verse 11 when Paul says, “count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God”?
  • What is one specific thing you could do this week to count yourself dead to sin and alive to Christ?
  • What does it mean to practice the teachings of vs. 11-13?  What is the motivation?
  • Describe the freedom that exists from the truth of verse 14.

Application Questions:

  • What do you do when you hear voices from your former life (in sin), as do these believers?
  • If you could bury one thing with Christ forever, what would it be?

Close in Prayer:

  • Pray for each other.

Closing Activity:

  • Hopefully you’ve made plan to link up as a group in December.  If so, finalize those plans and make sure everyone knows what is happening.
