Week 4 (Feb. 1-7) – COMMUNITY – Various texts
Opening Question / Icebreaker:
- Think about your spiritual journey so far. Who has played the biggest role in your growth – and how did community factor into that?
Pray Together – ask God to bless your group, your time in His word, and your relationships.
Read Mark 3:13-19. https://www.esv.org/Mark+3/
Observation & Interpretation Questions:
- Why do you think Jesus chose a group instead of mentoring individuals one-on-one?
- What do you think “being with Jesus” looked like day-to-day?
- How does this challenge our modern, individualistic view of faith?
- What does it mean to you to be “with him” in your day-to-day life?
Read Hebrews 10:19-25. https://www.esv.org/Hebrews+10/
- From 10:24, what does it mean to “stir up” (ESV) or “spur on” (NIV) one another?
- Why do you think encouragement is essential to faithfulness and discipleship?
- How (in what ways) does absence from community weaken discipleship?
Application Questions:
- How can you grow in community with others this week?
- What is one thing you can do to stir up another Christian toward love and good works?
- What is one thing you can do to encourage the faith of another Christian this week?
- Will you do these things?
Close in Prayer:
- Pray together – lift any praises or concerns of the group members up to God in prayer.
