Small Group Questions for Fall 2025
Week 2 (Sept. 21-27) – Acts 15. https://www.esv.org/Acts+15/
Opening Question / Icebreaker:
- In the church experiences you’ve had, what have been behavioral norms that were expected of you – whether they were biblical or not?
Pray Together - asking God to bless your group, your time in His word, and your relationships.
Read Acts 15
Observation & Interpretation Questions:
- What are some other things these Jewish teachers would say are necessary for the Gentiles to do?
- If you were a Gentile hearing that these regulations were required, how would you feel about your faith?
- How would describe Peter’s struggle with this issue? (see Gal. 2:11-13)
- What is the significance of the council’s decision in light of Acts 1:8?
- Why are a letter AND representatives from the church in Jerusalem a good way to communicate the council’s decision?
- How do Judas and Silas personally add to this letter? What else brings unity between the primarily Jewish church in Jerusalem and the primarily Gentile church in Antioch?
Application Questions:
- Is there some area of your faith where you feel like Peter – going back and forth – because you are not sure of what is right? How could v. 11 relate to this concern?
- What roles do experience, theology, and practical considerations play in the decision-making process of this council? How can these three realities still influence decision-making in the church?
- From this chapter, what do you learn about the way to solve disagreements among Christians?
Close in Prayer:
- Pray together – lift any praises or concerns of the group members up to God in prayer.
