Classroom Assistant

Purpose: To assist & support the Sunday School Teacher(s) by helping ensure a classroom environment that is safe, fun, and conducive to learning

  • 2-3 Year-Old Classroom
  • 4-Pre-Kindergarten Classroom
  • K-1st Grade Classroom
  • 2nd-5th Grade Classroom

  • Description of Duties:

  • Assist with class preparation, check-in, teaching, behavior management, checkout and clean-up
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 15 Minutes before class for setup and check-in
  • 1 Hour for Worship & Sunday school
  • 15 Minutes after class for check-out and clean-up
  • 1-2 Hours quarterly for team meetings & training
  • Total: 1-1/2 Hours every week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

  • 12 Months (26 Sundays)
  • Discussion Group Leader

    Purpose: Connect & engage with a small rotating group of boys/girls on Sunday morning during a 10-15-minute Discipleship Group time.

  • Description of Duties:

  • Oversee a kid’s-choice play area (i.e., coloring station, basketball, building blocks, etc.) prior to the beginning of Sunday school with the goal of connecting with kids.
  • Participate with children in worship, learning activities, and group games.
  • Facilitate a 10-15-minute Discipleship Group of 5-7 boys/girls by:
  • Asking 3-5 questions that will be provided each week.
  • Looking up & reading Bible verses that may provided with the questions.
  • Guiding the group through the questions & Bible verses to talk about the relevance & application of the Bible lesson to the lives of the children.
  • Praying or helping a child pray at the end of the Discipleship Group time.
  • Pray for the kids & their prayer requests from the Discipleship Group during the week.
  • Work with the Bridgetown Kids Team to ensure the Bridgetown Kids environment is safe, fun, and conducive to learning.
  • Assist with check-in, teaching, behavior management, check-out and clean-up.
  • Attend relevant meetings.

  • Time Requirements:

  • 15 Minutes before class for setup and check-in
  • 1 Hour for Worship & Sunday school
  • 15 Minutes after class for check-out and clean-up
  • 1-2 Hours for team meetings & training 3x per year
  • Total: 1-1/2 Hours every week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

  • Every other month for 12 Months (26 Sundays)
  • Event Planning Team

    Purpose: Help in the successful accomplishment of one-time special events that occur throughout the year

  • Description of Duties:

  • Attend organizational meetings involved in planning the special event
  • Help with recruiting and delegation of tasks
  • Provide assistance with promotion and publicity
  • Provide necessary information to event coordinator
  • Assist with teaching and/or activities during event
  • Be available as a problem-solver to answer questions and encourage as necessary
  • Attend a follow-up meeting after the event to celebrate and evaluate the strengths and areas of improvement for future years
  • Work to ensure that everyone involved in the event complies with the church’s policies for working with children
  • Communicate and cooperate with the Children’s Minister
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 1-2 Hours every other week beginning 6-8 weeks before the event for event planning and brainstorming
  • 3-4 Hours total to accomplish the above listed tasks
  • 2-4 Hours for the actual event including setup and teardown
  • 1-2 Hours quarterly for team meetings & training
  • Total: 6-12 Hours total & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

    12 Months (26 Sundays)

    Games Director

    Purpose: Create opportunities for fun, connection, and engagement between children & adults in the elementary classroom through the organization & oversight of a weekly game time.

  • Description of Duties:

  • Choose (or create) a weekly game that can be explained, played, and cleaned up in 18 minutes or less
  • Choose (or create) a weekly game that can be played by both kids & adults and creates opportunities for fun, connection, and engagement between children & adults
  • Collect, purchase, or request the purchase of needed game supplies
  • Setup the game area & ready any supplies needed
  • Explain relevant game rules, form necessary teams, assign team leaders, and lead the game time, put away games as needed

  • Time Requirements:

  • 30 Minutes before class for setup
  • 15 Minutes before class for check-in
  • 1 Hour for Worship & Sunday school
  • 15 Minutes after class for check-out and clean-up
  • 1-2 Hours 2-3x per year for team meetings & training
  • Total: 1-1/2 Hours every week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

  • 12 Months (26 Sundays)
  • Kid's Gateway

    Purpose: Help new families feel comfortable & get checked in when they arrive.

  • Description of Duties:

  • Use the Check-In Computers to get nametags & claim-tags printed for new families
  • Escort new families down to Bridgetown Kids & introduce them to the relevant Bridgetown Kids Team Member in the classroom(s) their child(ren) will be attending.
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 45 minutes before church for setup and check-in every other month
  • Total: 45 minutes on Sunday & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

  • 12 Months (26 Sundays) 
  • Kid's Safety Monitor

    Purpose: To oversee Bridgetown Kids classrooms, ensure the safety and security of our children, and provide support to the Bridgetown Kids Teachers and Classroom Assistants

  • Description of Duties:

  • Unlock classroom doors for Teachers & Assistant Teachers as they arrive
  • Ensure the safety and security of the children by monitoring the Bridgetown Kids
  • classrooms and hallways during Sunday school

  • Provide necessary support to Teachers and Assistant Teachers during Sunday
  • school

  • Assist with check-in & check-out procedures (i.e. traffic direction, helping families
  • locate classrooms, answering questions, etc.)

  • Help with classroom discipline & classroom management (i.e. helping when a child’s
  • family needs to be paged, offering oversight when a child is in taken out of the room

    for discipline, etc.)

  • Provide direction & support during emergency situations
  • Provide additional assistance as needed by the Bridgetown Kids Team.
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 15 Minutes before class to assist with setup, check-in, etc.
  • 1 Hour for Children’s Worship
  • 15 Minutes after class to help with check-out, clean-up, etc.

    Purpose: To provide spiritual and physical care for infants and toddlers

  • Description of Duties:

  • Check the children in and out using the appropriate methods
  • Interact with the children in ways they enjoy
  • Keep children safe and clean for the time they are in the nursery
  • Make sure the nursery is picked up and ready for its next use
  • Communicate and cooperate with the Children’s Minister
  • Communicate and cooperate with the Nursery Coordinator
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 15 Minutes before class for check-in
  • 1 Hour for Children's Worship
  • 15 Minutes after class for check-out, clean-up, etc.
  • 1-2 Hours quarterly for team meetings & training
  • Total: 1-1/2 Hours each week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings

  • Description of Duties:

  • Ensure a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for the children in the Nursery
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and recruiting for the Nursery
  • Help facilitate training and orientation of nursery volunteers
  • Monitor & communicate needed supplies and equipment for the nursery
  • Help with development, implementation, and maintenance of Nursery policies for security, sign-in, substitution, etc.
  • Provide necessary support and information for Nursery volunteers
  • Communicate and cooperate with the Children’s Minister
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 2-3 Hours for above listed duties
  • 15 Minutes before class to check in with Nursery volunteers for information, support, etc.
  • 1 Hour for Worship & Sunday School
  • 15 Minutes after class to check in with Nursery volunteers for information, support, etc.
  • 1-2 Hours once a month for Sunday afternoon team meeting
  • Total: 1-1/2 Hours each week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

  • 12 Months (26 Sundays) 
  • Substitute Teacher

    Purpose: Fulfill the role of a Sunday School Teacher when the regularly scheduled Sunday School Teacher is unavailable.

  • Adapt, prepare, and teach the lesson using the provided curriculum according to your gifts, talents, and passions
  • Connect with the scheduled teacher to ensure you have the curriculum, information, etc. needed to lead the Sunday School hour.
  • Attend relevant meetings

  • Time Requirements:

  • 1-2 Hours preparation for each lesson
  • 15 Minutes before class for setup and check-in
  • 1 Hour for Worship & Sunday school
  • 15 Minutes after class for check-out and clean-up
  • 1-2 Hours quarterly for team meetings & training
  • Total: 2-1/2-3-1/2 Hours every week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings


    Commitment:

  • 12 Months (26 Sundays) 
  • Sunday School Teacher

    Purpose: To provide spiritual education and direction through teaching to children.

  • 15 Minutes after class for check-out and clean-up
  • 1-2 Hours quarterly for team meetings & training
  • Total: 2-1/2-3-1/2 Hours every week & 1-2 Hours for relevant meetings
